Piolo, Dingdong to star in Erik Matti's Mamasapano film

MANILA - Director Erik Matti confirmed on Friday that Piolo Pascual and Dingdong Dantes will star in his upcoming film "Pintakasi," which is based on the bloody Mamasapano clash.*
"It's a project that we'd been working on ever since the Mamasapano story happened. Of course we are going to show part of the Mamasapano tragedy, but the main goal is really to find out what happened before that and what caused the failure of the mission," Matti told members of the entertainment media on Friday.
He quickly added: "Hindi naman siya failure, nakuha naman nila Marwan, but at the same time we lost 44 soldiers."
Matti said they still don't have a shooting date for "Pintakasi," but they have informed the two actors about the upcoming project.*
"We already brought in to the project sina Piolo and Spring Films. So we've been talking to Joyce Bernal about it since last year. And then we also brought in for another role si Dingdong with his company, AgostoDos. But we are rushing the project, it's not a small project," he said.*
"Pintakasi" won the Crouching Tigers Award for best pitch at the first Crouching Tigers Project Lab in Macau.
Matti explained that the movie also has an American angle on top of its Filipino and Asian segments. "Siguro nagustuhan nila," he said as he talked about the award.
"We met some interesting companies who are willing to explore the project with us, so hopefully we are going to get a little funding, or little support internationally," he added.
Matti is currently promoting his horror film "Seklusyon," which is an official entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.
Aside from Hashtag member Ronnie Alonte, the film also stars Dominic Roque, John Vic de Guzman, J.R. Versales and child star Rhed Bustamante.
