American designer leathergoods house Coach has opened a 130sq m stand-alone boutique at Sydney Airport Terminal 1 (International), the brand’s debut in Australian airport retail.

Coach joins a glittering array of 13 global designer brands at the New South Wales gateway, including Tumi, Michael Kors, Kate Spade New York, Hugo Boss, Emporio Armani, Tiffany & Co., Burberry, Max Mara and Oroton – with Gucci to launch in 2017.

Sydney Airport General Manager Retail Glyn Williams said the Coach store sits within the newly transformed, 1,900sq m fashion precinct at T1, and forms part of the airport’s improvements programme designed to deliver a superior experience for passengers.

“The enviable mix of designer brands within the T1 fashion precinct offers passengers a sophisticated shopping experience with a range of offers across different price points,” Williams said.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Coach to T1 – a brand that sits comfortably within the revitalised offering.”

The store “evokes a sense of effortless New York style”, the airport company said. It carries the brand’s signature collections, including women’s and men’s bags, small leathergoods, footwear, accessories and fragrances.

The store interior is described as modern and vibrant, featuring custom-designed cabinetry, warm lighting and rich textiles to create a sophisticated shopping experience. The exterior boasts a striking double-height, illuminated façade framed with glass blocks and expansive windows.

Coach sits alongside Sydney Airport’s new premium dining precinct, City View, and the vast Heinemann Tax & Duty Free offer.
